White Flag Award
The Leisure Club at the Dingle Skellig Hotel has been awarded the White Flag for the past 6 years, which shows the commitment to providing the high quality standards set out by ILAM Ireland (Institute of Leisure and Amenity Management). The awards, which have been in existence since 2001 judge each Leisure Centre using key criteria classified under a number of headings including:
- Facility interior
- Exterior and grounds
- Staff training and qualifications
- Disability access and provision
- Swimming pool hygiene
- Operations
- Environmental management
- Water quality and treatment
- Education information
- Health and Safety
Each leisure facility must have safe and easy access, qualified and trained
staff, good health and safety procedures and follow industry codes of practice, which are imperative for a facility to be awarded the White Flag Award.
In October, the Skellig Leisure Club & Pool was one of 80 leisure facilities throughout Ireland presented with the 2008-2009 White Flag Award.
